What To Expect
Design Consultation Appointment
During the initial consultation, I will meet with you and your pet either in the studio or at your home. This will give your pet an opportunity to meet with me so the day of the shoot, he/she will know who I am. It will also give us an opportunity to talk about what it is that you are looking for. If you are looking for a beautiful wall portrait, I can provide you with ideas and suggestions for installation by using computer generated software to show what the artwork will look like on specific walls in your home. This will allow you much more of an opportunity to make a solid decision about style and size. There are different posing ideas we can discuss in addition to colour and design ideas such as black and white portraits that are absolutely stunning. We offer many different ideas so it is best to look at what is available and mull over the ideas prior to the photo shoot.
Day of the Shoot
On the day of the shoot, you and your pet come to the studio ready to go! I would encourage a few prepatory steps in order to ensure a successful session. First, groom your pet so they are spiffy! Ideally, if you can give him/her a bath and a good brushing, toe nail clipping, etc. then they will look their best. I would suggest that the bath be done the night before. If your dog has long fur (especially in the eyes), you might consider a trip to the groomer to get a fresh cut about a week before. Often, a cut looks best about a week after as the fur has settled. On the day of the appointment, please take your dog for a nice long walk (no playing in mud or swimming!) so they are thoroughly relaxed at the photo shoot. Try not to give them too much food before coming. Dogs will work for treats and this will certainly ease my job tremendously! When your dog arrives, he/she will be very curious over the surroundings. They will want to explore everything and all the smells of the studio. These initial few minutes of exploring the studio will allow them to settle while you and I chat. Sometimes, owners will get a little stressed if their dog is not settling; not to worry, that is part of the process and patience is something I have a lot of! We will take our time to get the right shots.
Images Presentation and Ordering Appointment
Approximately one week after our photo shoot, we will arrange for you to come back to the studio to view the images. We can always arrange to come to you if a visit to the studio is not possible. During this session, we will present to you a slideshow of your pet. The slideshow will include a number of different poses and looks of your pet and any family members included in the photo shoot. In addition, to help you make an informed decision over what artwork will work best in your home, we can display your preferred images in various framed and canvas installations from our computer. From there, we will be able to show you what they will look like on your wall with our software! Our clients always praise this method because it makes it so much easier for them to envision the size and look of the portrait even before it is hung on their wall!
Your artwork will be ready for installation 2-3 weeks following our ordering appointment. It will be ready for pick up at the studio or we can bring it to you if you are unable to come to the studio. We are more than happy to assist you with ideas of where to hang your portrait.
